The unique circumstances and experiences that shape an individual (or family) is their context. This invisible layer of information is often what goes unspoken and undocumented. Its what helps them understand each other in a way that photos in an album or on a phone just can’t. It’s also one of the most meaningful gifts you can give someone: the context of who they are and where they came from.

We love telling stories and our award-winning team has deep expertise in documenting them.

  • Ask the right questions, shape the narrative, put people at ease, and oversee the editing process.

  • Work closely with the director to visually capture a story through lighting and composition.

  • Oversee the interview, production, recording, and editing process.

  • Work with the director and producer to assemble and incorporate video footage, audio clips, titles, and client photos.

  • Capture and mix all audio elements required for the final cut.

  • Ensure interview subjects look and feel their best, while enhancing their natural appearance and minimizing shine.

Message from our founder.

Many of my friends and I were in the same situation: our parents were aging and we wanted to preserve their stories, their achievements, and their legacies. But we had no idea how to do it.

We also didn’t have time to write it down. Besides, who would read it? Creating photo albums was too time-consuming. This was a burden in our already hectic lives, yet we all agreed, we had to do something before it was too late.

We wanted our children to know where they came from and understand their family history. And after talking to many others, we knew we weren’t the only ones.

That’s when it hit me. I’d been helping executives and family business leaders tell their stories for decades at Broad Reach, the PR agency I founded two decades ago. The seed for CONTEXT Studios was planted.

Over the last four years, we’ve worked hard to develop an easy process to capture individual and family business stories that will stand the test of time. We’ve built a secure, easy-to-use platform that allows people to access their documentaries from any device, in the same way they would watch Netflix or listen to a podcast.

At a time when I’d been searching to be more purpose-driven, I’m thrilled to have found the answer in helping others capture the context of their lives and legacies for their families, their businesses and for generations to come.

How we give back.

Many of our loved ones are living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. These individuals often lose access to their most cherished memories and as a result are unable to pass along their story. CONTEXT Studios contributes a portion of each documentary’s proceeds to help the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada put an end to dementia. We’re committed to improving the quality of life for people living with dementia, as well as their families and caregivers.
